2024 Wrap-up and Submissions Re-opening in January 2025
What a year it has been for GigaNotoSaurus! My head is still spinning from all the good things that happened this year. We were nominated for the Hugo Award in the Semiprozine category, and while we didn’t win, it was still an honor to be at the Glasgow Worldcon to cheer on all the winners. Congratulations to everyone who was nominated and who won. I will send in a separate post all the stories we published in 2024 for award eligibility and consideration.
As we turn to 2025, we’re going to be reopening submissions again in January! I’m well aware that our intermittent slush windows can make it hard to schedule sending your stories to us, as well as our long wait times, so we will take steps to improve this next year. To start, we’ll hold shorter submission windows: instead of being open for a month, we will only be open for 15 days. Our hope is that shorter windows will help us manage slush better and quicker. Our first window will be January 1 through January 15, 2025, so please spread the word!
I’m also going to adjust our response times. From now on, please expect a response for stories of any word count up to ninety days as opposed to sixty. If stories have been sent up to the second level of consideration, expect a much longer response time as I tend to read slowly. Most stories that make it up to me receive more personal feedback, so thanks for your patience in advance.
We’ll do our best to open slush more on a quarterly basis, but it’s also dependent on how much slush we have in our queue. Be sure to follow us on Bluesky or subscribe to our website for future submission dates.
Finally, we are looking for volunteers! In particular, we want to move away from Twitter (X) and post more on Instagram and other platforms. If you would like to help GigaNotoSaurus with social media marketing, please send an email to editor@giganotosaurus.org.
Thank you to all our readers for supporting us. We look forward to bringing you wonderful stories in the new year.
