Hello friends,

As you’re noticing, there’s no story this month. Instead, have a little editorial from me. Consider it a tiny state-of-the-magazine address.

This month marks the official fifteenth anniversary of GigaNotoSaurus. I’ve been editor, and more recently owner, for about six years now. It’s been fun, and I am overjoyed when I come across a reader who thanks us for being around, especially for putting out novellas. Also, I prided in myself never missing an issue. There have been times when I bought a story a couple of weeks before the published date, but I always managed to publish it on time.

Until now.

As you’re aware, I experienced a couple of personal tragedies this summer that required me to put the magazine on pause. When I unpaused the magazine in October, I found it hard to get back into my usual slushing routine. Furthermore, I still hadn’t implemented the Patreon, or set up things financially, or worked on expanding our outreach, or our presence on social media, all the while needing to pick out stories for November and December and editing them and putting them on the web…

Oh. That’s a lot. That’s a lot for just one person.

So here’s what’s going to happen. GigaNotoSaurus is going back on pause until the beginning of next year. That’s just two more months. During that time, I’ll be working with my team on administration behind the scenes so that we’ll be in a better place next year. I’ll also use this time to catch up on my own slush pile. All the stories that are in the queue are in my to-read pile, so if you haven’t heard from me yet, please be patient a little longer.

How can you as readers help? You can start by spreading the word about us. Let people know that the stories will start up again next year. I don’t know if we’ll be able to reopen submissions during that time, but keep an eye on this website and our Bluesky account just in case.
